Chestnut Oak

The chestnut oak is a medium sized tree that typically grows up to 20 meters tall, however in optimal growing conditions it can grow to be up to 40 meters tall. It is native to eastern United States and can be found in rocky, dry habitats. Chestnut oak is a long lived tree and is predominately a ridge-top species in eastern North American hardwood forests.

Leaf

Leaves are alternate, coarsely crenately serrated and the margins are rounded. The leaves are typically 13-20 cm long.

Dark brown to greyish, heavy and firm, deeply ridged bark
