European White Birch

The European white birch, as its name suggests is a species native to Europe and some parts of Asia. It is a medium sized tree, typically growing between 15-25 meters tall. It has been introduced to North America and planted as an ornamental, it is considered invasive in some areas of the U.S and Canada.



Alternate, simple, 3-7cm long leaves. Leaves end in large teeth. Triangular to oval. Turn yellow in fall.


Trunks usually clumped. Mature bark is bright white and peels in long strands.
