Sweet Cherry

Sweet cherry is a deciduous tree growing 15-30 meters tall. It is native to Europe and western Asia however it is often cultivated and naturalized in North America. The cherries are larger, sweeter and keep longer than native varieties. Sweet cherry enjoys medium moisture and well drained soil in full sun. It is found in open, disturbed sites and is an important food source for wildlife.

Small, dark red to almost black cherries, round to heart-shaped.

Dark, reddish-brown, smooth bark, with lenticels (pores).
